Tonnes of rubble including 'bits of old toilets', plastics, and metals have been dumped in Coedpoeth and Minera villages, Wrexham, residents claim. Several trucks a day have been depositing thousands of tonnes of building rubble on a field at the edge of Coedpoeth, destroying the village. Reg Davies, a local resident, said numerous 40-tonne trucks visit the site almost daily, causing environmental concerns.
He fears the material may contain dangerous substances like asbestos and PCBs. In Minera, dozens of lorries have been dumping materials on a field opposite homes, with caravans and earthmovers installed, described as reeking of diesel. NRW has issued enforcement notices to remove the waste, and Wrexham Council has served stop notices due to planning violations.
SOS Aggregates, the landowner, denies dumping waste, stating it is using high-grade recycled construction material to create a horse training area. However, residents report low-grade demolition waste, including tar and lead batteries. The company claims it will submit a planning application soon but acknowledges ongoing work despite temporary stop orders.
The situation has left locals frustrated and concerned about environmental pollution and legal consequences.
